New B-Box battery means no more sending power back to the grid or suffering through catastrophic weather events Solar Australia, which provides residential and commercial energy-efficient solutions, is pleased to announce the B-Box Battery Energy Storage System by BYD is now available in Australia.

The B-Box is different to other batteries on the market in that its modular design allows the battery to be stacked and connected to provide more power within a smaller footprint. Recent heatwave conditions and poor power supply in South Australia have seen many residents left without power in sweltering heat.

The B-Box gives residents peace of mind knowing that they have access to off-the-grid power in case of catastrophic weather events or interrupted power supply. Adam Clements of Solar Australia said the B-Box offered a wide range of renewable power capacity to meet light to heavy electrical load usage, off-grid or on-grid, single phase or three phase application.

“The B-Box is an excellent device as it can be part of a fully sustainable energy independent enterprise or lifestyle, enabling its users to reduce reliance on electricity from fossil fuels, especially when combined with our solar power systems, while cutting energy costs,” Mr Clements said. The B-Box is small and compact and is powered by BYD, the world’s largest lithium-ion battery manufacturer.

The B-Box Energy Storage System features the same battery technology as found in London’s recently launched fleet of 51 single-decker electric buses. The fleet of buses is currently Europe’s largest although BYD’s rapidly growing network of electric buses and taxis are now found in more than 200 cities worldwide. The B-Box’s features include:

• Continuous power that is designed to support three-phase configuration for continuous power applications, with an off-grid backup function to cope with blackouts

• The battery’s smart inverter means it can power household appliances that draw a larger load of up to 5kWh such as fridges, freezers, as well as heating and cooling units.
