Tesla, the innovative US company made famous by its CEO Elon Musk, is now offering its products in Australia and we at Solar Australia are proud to be an official Tesla Certified Installer.

Like all of our batteries, the Powerwall 2 stores solar to continuously power homes and workplaces with sustainable energy day and night.

The Powerwall 2 is different to the original Powerwall in a few ways:

it has more than twice the capacity: up from 6.4 kWh of storage to 13.2 kWh;
it’s available in two variants: DC and AC;
the new design makes it 40% more compact;
the battery can be wall or floor mounted both indoors and outdoors;
the AC Powerwall 2 includes an inbuilt inverter to convert DC solar energy into AC energy used in the home or workplace; and
the DC Powerwall 2 has the flexibility to pair with a number of compatible third party inverters.

For those who have solar panels but not a battery, the Tesla Powerwall 2 can be installed to fit with existing solar systems, but only compatible solar inverters will continue to operate during blackout/backup situations. The Powerwall 2 is best suited for residential or light commercial use.

All Tesla Powerwall batteries feature the safest lithium-ion batteries on the market. The cells are carefully monitored by the in-built battery management system. The Powerwalls are also the only battery with liquid cooling controls, decreasing the risk of fire considerably.

For those who like to monitor their usage, they can do so via the Tesla app. The app provides real-time solar usage monitoring and alerts users on when to prepare for cloudy or severe weather.

The Powerwall 2 system is always up to date with Tesla automatically sending updated software remotely using the system’s internet connection.
