Solar Australia Beginnings

Solar Australia has its beginnings in Newcastle, NSW in 2006, trading in conjunction with another local company, Newcastle Batteries. Then known as Solar Newcastle, it expanded into its own premises in 2007. As one of Australia’s first solar companies, Solar Newcastle chose to focus on providing the highest quality products and advice to the local Newcastle region, later expanding into the Central Coast, Greater Hunter and Port Stephens regions.

Growth

After great success in providing premium solar solutions to the Australian market, in 2009 Solar Newcastle expanded again into the solar distribution sector as Solar Australia Wholesale, located at Wickham, NSW. However, due to rapid success, Solar Australia Wholesale relocated to Friesian Close, Sandgate NSW with a dedicated warehouse and distribution hub. In 2010 the organisation opened another retail branch in Port Macquarie, trading as Solar Australia Port Macquarie. In 2012, Solar Australia branched out to the Riverina, North-East Victoria and surrounds with its Solar Australia Albury branch, located in Lavington, NSW on the NSW/VIC border.

Evolution

Solar Newcastle then moved into the Sandgate site and changed its name to Solar Australia in 2013 for brand continuity across the organisation.
